Argentine Coach Departs After Trophy-Laden Spell

Galtier Appointed As Replacement

Paris Saint-Germain have announced that Mauricio Pochettino has left the club after 18 months in charge. The Argentine coach departs the French capital after winning the Ligue 1 title and two domestic cups during his time at the helm.

Pochettino's departure follows a disappointing season for PSG, who were eliminated from the Champions League in the round of 16 and finished second in Ligue 1 behind Lille. The club's hierarchy is said to have been unhappy with Pochettino's failure to deliver the Champions League trophy, which has been their primary goal since the Qatari takeover in 2011.

Nice boss Christophe Galtier has been appointed as Pochettino's replacement. The 55-year-old Frenchman has signed a two-year contract with PSG and will be tasked with leading the club to their first Champions League triumph.

Pochettino leaves PSG with a record of 55 wins, 15 draws, and 14 defeats in 84 competitive games. He will be remembered for his attacking style of play and his ability to develop young players. However, his time in Paris will ultimately be defined by his failure to win the Champions League, the trophy that PSG crave most.

The Argentine coach's departure marks the end of an era at PSG. Pochettino was a popular figure with the fans and his departure is sure to be met with disappointment. However, the club's hierarchy will be hoping that Galtier can bring them the success they have been craving for so long.
