Updates to Level 3 Area
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has reissued its travel advice for Rwanda, including updates to the area of Level 3.
Safety and Security
Rwanda is generally considered one of the safest destinations in Africa, particularly for solo travelers. Crime rates are relatively low, although visitors may occasionally experience petty theft or scams.
Entry Requirements
To enter Rwanda, visitors must have a valid passport with at least six months validity remaining. Visas are not required for citizens of most countries, but some nationalities may need to obtain a visa in advance.
Legal Differences
Rwanda has a number of legal differences from other countries. For example, homosexuality is illegal in Rwanda, and same-sex couples may face discrimination.
Insurance
It is important to have adequate travel insurance when traveling to Rwanda. This will help to cover the cost of any medical expenses, lost luggage, or other emergencies.
COVID-19
Before planning any international travel, it is important to read the Department of State's COVID-19 page. This will provide up-to-date information on the latest travel restrictions and health advisories.
